After her first winter on Peaks Island, Cynthia moved to the mainland and has lived in Portland ever since. She worked for Portland Design Team, Winton Scott Architects, and Reed & Co Architecture as a lead project architect before founding Central Square Design, LLC.

With over 35 years of experience as a practicing architect, Cynthia combines decades of project management skills with a simple, straightforward approach to design. Cynthia’s career has focused primarily on libraries, community centers, schools and private residences.

While practicing in Maine she has developed an appreciation for Maine's historic structures, helping to incorporate modern building technology into cultural landmarks such as the Pittsfield Public Library and the Sorrento Library. She became a LEED certified professional in 2009, and has long been committed to sustainable design incorporating green roofs, geothermal systems, high performance building strategies, and solar technologies as well as a commitment to qualified builders and engineering professionals.

Based in Portland's Deering Center, Central Square Design offers client-based design from an experienced local architect committed to community and design excellence.

Cynthia is the proud mother of two daughters (one a budding architect herself) as well as an amateur painter. When not at her design desk, she can be found on a yoga mat, a tennis court, hiking or serving on the Portland Public Parks Commission.
